Hello! :) Today I'm going to write a post about the Great Barrier Reef. :)
Great Barrier Reef is considered as the largest coral reef in the world. It is located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland in northern Australia This reef is also one of the seven wonders of the natural world.The Great Barrier Reef sustains the life of a large number of various animals. That’s why the government and different organizations mean that it is important to protect the reef. Tourists and shipping are one of activities that threaten the Great Coral Reef.
As I said before, possible threat to the coral reefs are the tourists themselves. Reef walking, dropping anchors and pollution can damage the fragile coral reefs. In addition, suntan lotions and perspiration may also cause a negative effect on the reef environment.
Shipping accidents ale also threats to the survival of the Great Barrier Reef, as several commercial shipping routes pass through the reef system. Boats can destroy the reef when they throw wastes and other foreign objects in the water.
I think that it is very important to protect coral reefs because they are important to the environment and the ecosystem because they support the existence of various animals. It is extremely important to stop to threat the Great Barrier Reef because it has one of the most diverse and rich ecosystems in the world.
